About Lorna
I have been photographing families in and around South Wales Since 2011.
Newborns
My experience working with newborns included babies with cleft palates, injuries from difficult births, Down syndrome, and premature newborn twins. I studied newborn anatomy and posing techniques from nine of the best specialists in the industry, located in Australia, America, Ireland, and the UK. I have joined the Society of Portrait and Wedding Photographers, an accredited professional body. They are purveyors of consistent, high-quality work and sound business practices from members and are the only "guild" recognised professionally.
Working With Children
I am also a mother of three boys; my eldest was two when my twins were born.
I would take my son, with high-functioning autism and ADHD, to get photographs taken only to find the experience uncomfortable. The photographers typically had little patience or understanding of how to work with him.
I studied Autism, Child Psychology and Photography, and my boys have taught me incredible patience. I managed to photograph my beautiful boys myself, outside in natural light, having fun playing and loving each other!
My Why
Long before my three children were born, I understood the value of photography and printed photographs.
I lost my Mum when I was seven, and she was 26. I have only a few Polaroid photos of my mother with me.
I asked for a camera for my eighth birthday. I fell in love with photography. On weekends, I could dress up as a princess or fairy and perform skits for pensioners to save pocket money for rolls of film.
I have always loved babies and children. When my dad remarried, I became the eldest of eight. I practised photographing all my new siblings. My photo book contains so many terrible photos, albeit great memories.
MY WISH FOR YOU
Your Legacy
I am here to help capture all the beautiful moments that tell your story. We can begin with photographing your pregnancy, followed by newborn art during the first week of life. We'll also capture milestones like your baby sitting up on their own around 7 months, along with outdoor family photography that includes moments like teeth falling out at seven, welcoming new siblings, and adding new pets to the family.
One day, in a heartbeat, your kids, their kids, and your great-grandchildren will look at your portraits and be able to remember and see all your magical connections to each other. They will know how much you adored their tiny beings and how you loved, looked, and lived.
They'll look back and see how gorgeous and young Mum and Dad held them at six days old until they left home and made their own families. I work for these memories, and I wholeheartedly believe photographs are love-affirming.
I want to give you the legacy of photographs every loving family deserves.
If you would love me to be your family photographer, I am ready when you are!
