LOCATIONS IDEAS FOR YOUR FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

Choosing a location for your photo session can be hard! So I wanted to make it easier for you with some visuals. All my favourite locations look different every month. Colours and light depend on the day and the time of the year. Let me know which one you prefer or what else you have in mind; I’m always open to your ideas as well!
These places have space, natural beauty, interesting buildings for a variety of images and facilities that families love to have close by, like bathrooms, and the option to have a coffee and cake.

WHAT TO CONSIDER

Some locations will be very busy at certain times of the day. Beaches are cleaner and have fewer people in the morning.

Other areas like manor houses may also have an event or a Wedding Party, and so it is always wise to check ahead of your session to ensure that we are not in the way.

Great spots may require some walking, so it is wise to bring comfortable shoes and change once we hit the good spot.
If an area is muddy, wearing wellies will be perfect as canvas shoes can get easily ruined.

WHERE TO GO & WHAT TIME

The photoshoots take place within 25 miles of CF72. I can shoot further away for an additional fee. I have a list of locations you can select from, or we can discuss the ideal place for your family over the phone.

Sessions starting during the first hour after sunrise and about 1.5 hours before sunset. This will differ depending on the time of year. I will help you have a smooth and easy photo session, and I provide you with a checklist, planning tips, clothing options and tricks to help the shoot go well!

TOP FOUR

#1 Miskin.
It’s got beautiful gardens, awesome doors to pose by, and it’s also gorgeous to photograph inside if little ones need a rest. Fantastic sandwiches and coffee, and so it always gets my vote.

#2 Penarth Woods
Sadly no cakes or bathroom, but in early June, it has the most beautiful long-stemmed buttercups. Gorgeous location for the sunset sessions for children able to stay up that bit later.

#3 Sophia Gardens
The castle is so close, and it is gorgeous in the spring and autumn.

#4 Merthyr Mawr
The castle ruin is lovely, and then there are the Dunes and a beach nearby. Cottages with thatched rooves and little bridges to pose on! Bring good walking shoes and something pretty. The sand is lovely, and the views are gorgeous.
